Welcome to our Loving Kindness Meditation audio recording!
As we discussed in our second Mind Your Own Mindfulness article, Loving Kindness Meditation (LKM) is similar to mantra meditation. Similar to it, LKM guides the practitioner into silently repeating a number of statements. They are meaningful phrases aimed at developing compassion and softening the heart. Over time, we feel deepened feelings of kindness and unconditional acceptance. As we know, sometimes the hardest thing is to cultivate acceptance of ourselves. Therefore, Loving Kindness Meditation is especially helpful when we need to cope with our harsh inner critic and build up more self-compassion. However, it helps in the healing of trauma, by helping us move past feeling stuck on thoughts of how others have wronged us.
